Pain is regarded as chronic pain when it does not go away and is experienced most days of the week for at least 3 months.
According to NSW State Health survey about 1 in 5 Australians suffer from chronic pain and the leading cause of the pain is reported to be an injury and commonly occurs from playing sports, car accidents, home accidents and work accidents.
Chronic pain affects more than any other form of ailments like diabetes, heart disease, cancer and nowadays it is the most common reason to see a general physician.
It has been observed that chronic pain sufferers also seek advice from other specialists such as orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, chiropractors, masseurs, acupuncturists and pain coaches.
A life of a person in pain not only has physical implications it impacts everything. When in pain it becomes harder to socialize, pain causes sleep deprivation, it leads to relationships becoming strained, and your moods are generally low.
